Emaar founder Mohamed Alabbar has hinted at a new skyscraper he described as the “most beautiful”, while Dubai Mall Plaza has drawn attention as a potential part of the development plans.
Emaar founder Mohamed Alabbar has hinted at a new skyscraper planned for Dubai, describing the upcoming project as potentially one of the most beautiful buildings in the world.
The teaser has also drawn attention to Dubai Mall Plaza and Hotel after Alabbar posted a video of the development on his verified social media accounts with the message “Coming Soon.” However, it remains unclear whether the project shown in the video is the same skyscraper he discussed at the Rise conference in Dubai.
Speaking at the event on Wednesday, Alabbar said the building had been fully designed and was ready for the next stage, but the company was waiting for logistical conditions to improve before inviting construction tenders.
“We have a unique building that’s fully designed and ready,” Alabbar said. “It’s probably going to be one of the most beautiful buildings in the world.”
His comments came in response to a question about when Dubai might see another skyscraper as striking as the Burj Khalifa.
Emaar Awaits Improved Logistics Before Tendering Project
When asked about the project’s timeline, Alabbar said he was waiting for the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz to reopen and for the broader situation to improve.
He did not disclose the building’s location, height, design, or expected completion date. Emaar has also not confirmed whether the Dubai Mall Plaza and Hotel teaser relates to the skyscraper mentioned at the conference.
The announcement has fuelled speculation about Emaar’s next major development, although further details will be needed to establish the project’s scope and timeline.
Alabbar Discusses Fully Automated Construction
Alabbar also addressed the possibility of construction sites operating without human intervention over the next eight to 10 years. While he acknowledged that such a future was possible, he expressed doubts about whether buildings could be constructed entirely by artificial intelligence (AI).
He pointed to advances in Chinese construction technology and cited an example of a 15-storey building in Abu Dhabi that was reportedly completed in 12 days.
Alabbar said the building offered substantially better energy efficiency and was four times more earthquake-resistant than a conventional structure.
“It’s much better than a normal building,” he said, adding that the technology showed how construction methods were changing.
However, he remained uncertain about eliminating human involvement.
“At the end of the day, we still have humans that have to erect the building,” Alabbar said. “My mind cannot think of a building that’s completely built by AI. But then again, what do I know?”
For now, Emaar’s teased skyscraper remains short on confirmed details. Alabbar’s remarks suggest that the project is designed and awaiting the right conditions for tendering, but the company has yet to clarify whether it is connected to the Dubai Mall Plaza and Hotel development.
