The Central Board of Secondary Education has announced the schedule for Class 12 special examinations for students in the UAE and six other countries.
India’s Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the schedule for special Class 12 board examinations in seven countries affected by the regional conflict in the Middle East.
According to the date sheet published on the CBSE website, the examinations will begin on October 23 and conclude on October 28, 2026. The exams will cover 40 subjects, including 20 academic subjects and 20 skill-based subjects.
The examinations will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.
Why Has CBSE Announced Special Exams?
The decision follows the special assessment scheme introduced by CBSE on March 27, 2026, after examinations were cancelled in the affected countries because of the regional conflict.
On March 15, the board announced the cancellation of all Class 12 board examinations for students in the affected Middle Eastern countries.
The special examinations provide eligible students with another opportunity to take the subjects of their choice under the revised arrangement.
Who Is Eligible for the Special Examination?
Regular students of CBSE-affiliated schools in the affected countries can appear for the special examinations if they meet the board’s eligibility requirements.
Students must have had their List of Candidates (LOC) submitted for the 2026 main examination, and their results must have been declared under the special assessment scheme.
Eligible students can choose the subjects in which they wish to appear.
Fresh Exam Marks Will Be Final
CBSE has clarified that marks obtained in the special examination will replace the marks awarded under the earlier assessment scheme. The result from the fresh examination will be considered final.
The special examination is separate from the regular Class 12 supplementary examination. The supplementary examination generally applies to students placed in the Compartment category or those seeking improvement in their performance under CBSE rules.
Students should check the official CBSE date sheet for subject-wise examination dates and timings, along with any further instructions issued by the board.
