Pre-orders open on October 28, with deliveries and in-store availability starting November 6.
Apple has introduced its first touchscreen MacBook Pro, bringing touch input to the Mac laptop lineup for the first time. The redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch models feature a new tandem OLED display, branded PROLED XDR, alongside Apple’s M5 Pro and M5 Max chips.
Pre-orders in the UAE open on Wednesday, October 28, with deliveries and in-store availability scheduled to begin on Friday, November 6.
Touchscreen MacBook Pro Prices in the UAE
Apple has announced starting prices for four configurations of the new MacBook Pro in the UAE. Education pricing is available across all four models.
| Model | Starting price in the UAE |
|---|---|
| 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 Pro | AED 11,999 |
| 16-inch MacBook Pro with M5 Pro | AED 14,499 |
| 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 Max | AED 19,299 |
| 16-inch MacBook Pro with M5 Max | AED 20,999 |
The M5 Pro configurations start at AED 11,999, while buyers opting for the more powerful M5 Max chip will pay at least AED 19,299. Final prices depend on the selected configuration.
How the MacBook Pro Touchscreen Works
The touchscreen is designed to work alongside the traditional keyboard and trackpad rather than replace them. Apple says the touch sensor is integrated into the display panel instead of being layered on top, helping reduce latency.
macOS translates touches into clicks, allowing many existing applications to work with touch input without requiring immediate changes from developers. Developers will also have access to updated system APIs to create controls specifically for touchscreen interaction.
The redesigned MacBook Pro also brings Dynamic Island to the Mac for the first time. The feature can display information such as calls, music controls, and live activities, giving users a quick way to view ongoing tasks.
PROLED XDR Display: Brightness, Contrast and Color
The new display is one of the major changes to the MacBook Pro lineup. Apple says its PROLED XDR tandem OLED panel reaches peak brightness of 2,000 nits, supports an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and delivers a claimed contrast ratio of 10,000,000:1.
The display supports both the P3 and Adobe RGB color spaces, making it relevant to photographers, designers, and other professionals who work with color-sensitive content. Buyers can also choose an optional nano-texture finish designed to reduce glare.
The screen sizes have increased slightly, measuring 14.2 inches and 16.3 inches for the two models.
MacBook Pro Weight, Dimensions and Battery Life
Apple has reduced the weight of both MacBook Pro models despite the display changes.
The 14-inch version weighs 3 pounds, approximately half a pound less than its predecessor. The 16-inch model weighs 4 pounds, representing a reduction of 0.7 pounds.
Apple claims battery life of up to 24 hours, although actual runtime will depend on the configuration, applications, and workload.
M5 Pro and M5 Max: Performance for Professional Work
The new MacBook Pro models run on Apple’s M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, which are designed for demanding workloads such as software development, video editing, 3D animation, and artificial intelligence tasks.
Apple says systems powered by M5 Max can run large language models containing hundreds of billions of parameters directly on the device. The laptops support up to 128GB of memory and up to 16TB of storage, depending on the configuration.
These specifications target professionals who need substantial memory and local computing capacity for complex projects.
Ports, Software and Connectivity
The new MacBook Pro models run macOS 27 and include three Thunderbolt 5 ports, an HDMI port, an SDXC card slot, and MagSafe charging.
The combination of touchscreen input, the OLED display, and the M5 chip family marks a significant change for the MacBook Pro. For UAE buyers, the starting price is AED 11,999 for the 14-inch M5 Pro model, with pre-orders opening October 28 and retail availability scheduled for November 6.
