Authorities in the UAE have dismantled a suspected Iran-linked terror cell and arrested its members over alleged activities aimed at undermining national unity and destabilising the country.
A statement carried by Emirates News Agency confirmed that investigations uncovered plans to execute organised sabotage and terrorist operations within the country.
Network Tied to External Ideology and Covert Operations
Security agencies linked the group to Iran’s “Wilayat Al Faqih,” stating that members adopted extremist ideologies that posed a direct threat to internal stability.
Investigations showed that the suspects conducted recruitment and mobilisation efforts through secret meetings. These activities formed part of a broader coordinated plan with external entities, including attempts to gain access to sensitive locations.
Authorities also found that members held clandestine meetings both داخل and outside the UAE with individuals and organisations suspected of extremist links.
Recruitment Efforts Targeted Youth and Public Opinion
The investigation revealed a structured attempt to influence and recruit Emirati youth. Members allegedly spread misleading narratives designed to build loyalty toward external groups.
In parallel, the network sought to incite opposition to the UAE’s foreign policy and internal measures. Authorities said these efforts included attempts to project a negative image of the country and weaken social cohesion.
Financial Flows and Organisational Structure Under Scrutiny
Officials confirmed that the group collected funds through unofficial channels and transferred money to suspicious entities abroad.
Charges against those arrested include forming and operating a secret organisation, pledging allegiance to foreign entities, and engaging in activities that harm national unity and social stability.
Authorities Reinforce Internal Security Measures
UAE State Security reiterated its position on addressing threats to public safety. Authorities emphasised continued vigilance and urged residents to report suspicious activities through official channels.
The action reflects a broader strategy to prevent infiltration, disrupt coordinated networks, and maintain stability within the country.
