The UAE Ministry of Defence activated its air defence systems after detecting aerial threats targeting the country.
The ministry confirmed on Wednesday that UAE defence systems intercepted multiple missiles and drones launched from Iran, successfully preventing them from reaching their targets.
Authorities also explained that the loud sounds heard across parts of the UAE resulted from the interception of ballistic missiles and drones.
Hundreds of Threats Detected
Since the attacks began, the UAE has detected 262 ballistic missiles, according to official updates. Air defence units intercepted and destroyed 241 missiles, while 19 fell into the sea. Two missiles landed within the country’s territory.
In addition, authorities detected 1,475 drones. Defence systems intercepted and destroyed 1,385, while 90 drones fell inside the UAE.
Meanwhile, defence units also intercepted eight cruise missiles during the attacks.
Casualties Reported
Authorities confirmed six fatalities and 122 injuries linked to the incidents.
Emergency response teams and security forces quickly deployed to affected areas, supporting national response operations and assisting those impacted.
Integrated Defence Network
According to the Ministry of Defence, the interceptions relied on the UAE’s integrated air defence network.
This system combines advanced radar detection, missile interception technology, and coordinated airspace monitoring to identify and neutralise incoming threats.
Officials added that the network protects civilian areas, infrastructure, and critical facilities across the country.
Situation Under Review
Authorities continue to monitor developments closely and assess the impact of the attacks.
At the same time, the Ministry of Defence reiterated that national security forces remain fully prepared to respond to any further threats while ensuring the safety of residents and vital infrastructure.
