Travelers are advised to allow extra travel time and monitor airline updates as monsoon conditions continue to affect Mumbai.

Severe rainfall in Mumbai delays UAE flights as airlines advise passengers to check schedules.

Flights between the UAE and Mumbai were significantly disrupted on Monday after heavy monsoon rains affected operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. Several departures from Dubai were delayed, some by more than an hour, as airlines urged passengers to verify their flight status before leaving for the airport.

Mumbai has experienced its third consecutive day of intense rainfall, with widespread waterlogging disrupting road traffic and airport operations across the city.

Multiple UAE departures experience delays

Several flights departing from Dubai to Mumbai reported revised schedules on Monday evening.

An IndiGo flight, 6E1456, originally scheduled to depart at 7.55 pm, was delayed by nearly an hour and was expected to leave at 8.50pm, according to Dubai Airports’ live flight information.

A SpiceJet service, SG5114, scheduled for departure at 11.40 pm, faced a much longer delay and was rescheduled to depart at 2.40 am.

Emirates flight EK500, scheduled to leave Dubai at 9.40 pm, remained on schedule despite the weather-related disruptions.

On the return route, Emirates flight EK503 from Mumbai, originally due to arrive in Dubai at 9 pm, was expected to land at 9.43 pm. Overall, flights operating between the UAE and Mumbai experienced average delays of around one hour.

Airlines advise passengers to check flight status.

As weather conditions continued to affect operations, airlines issued travel advisories asking passengers to monitor the latest flight updates.

IndiGo informed travellers that heavy rainfall had disrupted flights to and from both Mumbai and Pune. The airline also advised passengers to allow additional travel time to reach the airport because waterlogged roads and slow-moving traffic could extend journey times.

The advisory came as airport operations remained vulnerable to changing weather conditions throughout the day.

Flight cancellations and diversions add to disruption

The adverse weather affected more than flight schedules alone.

According to reports, Mumbai airport cancelled 17 domestic and international arrivals and departures on Monday, while authorities diverted five flights to alternate airports as conditions deteriorated.

Akasa Air also cancelled several services and issued a travel advisory for passengers travelling to and from the nearby Navi Mumbai International Airport.

Monsoon season continues to impact air travel.

Mumbai’s monsoon season, which usually extends from June through September, regularly brings periods of heavy rainfall that affect transportation across the city. However, Monday’s downpour proved particularly disruptive, impacting both domestic and international flight operations.

Weather conditions remain unpredictable, and airlines continue to monitor the situation closely as rainfall persists.

Travellers should monitor updates before leaving for the airport

Passengers travelling between the UAE and Mumbai should check directly with their airline or airport before beginning their journey, as departure and arrival times may continue to change depending on weather conditions and airport operations.

With the monsoon expected to remain active, travellers are advised to plan additional travel time and stay informed through official airline and airport updates.
