The Googlebook AI laptop is designed to work closely with Android phones.

Additionally, it offers features that connect the laptop and smartphone experience.

Google has unveiled Googlebook, a new category of premium AI-focused laptops.

Moreover, this Googlebook AI laptop aims to bring Android phones and desktop computing closer together.

Starting at $899, the new laptops are aimed at users who regularly move between Android smartphones and computers. Moreover, Google is positioning the devices as a more connected alternative to the traditional laptop experience. It showcases Googlebook AI laptop features that link mobile apps, files, and notifications with the desktop.

Additionally, the new lineup is Google’s latest attempt to build a hardware and software ecosystem around Android.

It mirrors the integration Apple offers between the iPhone and MacBook, including the Googlebook AI laptop concept.

What Is Googlebook?

Googlebook is a new category of AI-first laptops running Googlebook OS, an Android-based desktop platform that Google says is designed to succeed the traditional Chromebook.

The Googlebook AI laptop is built around close integration with Android smartphones.

Users can access mobile apps, files, and notifications directly from the laptop’s taskbar.

Additionally, this setup makes it easier to move between their phone and computer.

Googlebook also introduces AI-powered features.

Magic Pointer provides contextual actions and suggestions based on what is displayed on the screen, while Rambler can clean up and organize voice notes.

The laptops are being manufactured by hardware partners including Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo.

Google says the devices use premium materials such as aluminum, magnesium and carbon fiber. They also feature a distinctive Glowbar that provides notification and charging indicators.

Googlebook Price and Release Date

Google has opened pre-orders for five Googlebook models.

Prices start at $899 (around Dh3,301) and go up to $1,299 (around Dh4,770).

The entry-level price is below the $1,299 starting price of the MacBook Air cited by Google’s positioning, although Google is not presenting the new devices as direct replacements for every type of laptop.

The $899 starting configuration includes a 12-month Google AI Pro subscription, along with 5TB of cloud storage and access to Gemini Advanced.

Googlebook laptops will become available in the US from October 4, 2026.

Availability in selected international markets, including the UK, Canada and Australia, is scheduled to begin on October 5.

Googlebook vs MacBook

Google is clearly targeting one of Apple’s biggest ecosystem advantages.

MacBook users can move between their iPhones and computers with features that connect messages, files, apps and other information.

Googlebook is designed to offer a similar experience for Android users.

The laptop can connect with an Android phone, allowing users to continue working across devices rather than treating the phone and computer as separate systems.

For Google, the strategy also gives Android a more complete presence across personal computing.

Googlebook Hardware and AI Features

Googlebook laptops will come with at least 16GB of RAM, while higher-end configurations can offer up to 32GB.

Storage starts at 256GB SSD.

The laptops also include neural processing units capable of more than 45 trillion operations per second (TOPS) for on-device AI workloads.

Other hardware features include:

  • Displays with resolutions of up to 2.8K OLED
  • Touchscreen support
  • Up to 14 hours of battery life
  • Google Titan C/C2 security chip
  • Fingerprint readers
  • Facial authentication
  • Backlit keyboards
  • A dedicated “G Key”
  • Glowbar notification and charging indicator

The combination of local AI processing and Google’s cloud-based AI services is central to the new laptop category.

Why Google Is Launching Googlebook

Googlebook represents a broader shift in Google’s approach to personal computing.

Chromebooks traditionally focused on affordability, simplicity and web-based computing. Googlebook moves the proposition further into premium hardware, AI and device integration.

The company is effectively targeting users who already rely heavily on Android and want their phone to become a more integrated part of their desktop workflow.

The move also gives Google another way to extend Gemini and other AI services into everyday computing.

When Will Googlebook Launch in the UAE?

Google has not yet announced UAE pricing or an official UAE release date for Googlebook.

The UAE is not included in the initial launch markets.

After the US launch on October 4, Google has scheduled availability in Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, Germany and Australia from October 5.

For UAE consumers, the timing of an official regional launch remains unconfirmed.

Until then, buyers may need to wait for Google’s regional rollout rather than relying on third-party imports, particularly because local pricing, warranty coverage and availability have not yet been announced.

For now, Google’s $899 starting price gives Google a new entry point into the premium laptop market, while its biggest selling point is the connection between an AI-first computer and the Android devices that users already carry every day.
