The new tunnel will improve traffic flow between Dubai-Al Ain Road and Oud Metha Road, helping reduce congestion in the area.
Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened a new vehicle tunnel connecting Dubai-Al Ain Road with Oud Metha Service Road, marking another step in the ongoing development of the area’s road network.
The 260-metre-long tunnel forms part of the Oud Metha Road and Al Asayel Street Development Project and is expected to improve traffic movement between the two routes.
Tunnel Can Handle 1,200 Vehicles an Hour
The new tunnel has one lane and can accommodate up to 1,200 vehicles per hour.
RTA said the tunnel has been designed to reduce traffic overlap and weaving along the route. By providing a more direct connection between Dubai-Al Ain Road and Oud Metha Service Road, the project is expected to help motorists navigate the area more smoothly.
The opening is part of a wider programme of road improvements being carried out around Oud Metha Road and Al Asayel Street.
Part of Dubai’s Wider Road Network Improvements
The development project aims to improve connectivity and traffic flow across the area while enhancing the overall efficiency of Dubai’s road network.
RTA said the infrastructure upgrades are intended to provide smoother and more convenient journeys for motorists while contributing to a more integrated mobility network across the emirate.
The new tunnel adds another connection to Dubai’s expanding road infrastructure as the emirate continues to invest in projects designed to improve traffic flow and accommodate growing movement across key corridors.
