Dubai International Airport has scheduled 4.54 million outbound international seats, up 4.4% from July.

Dubai: Dubai International Airport has once again been ranked the world’s busiest airport for international seat capacity, maintaining its global lead as airlines expanded services to meet strong summer travel demand.

According to the latest data from aviation analytics firm OAG, Dubai International scheduled 4.54 million outbound international seats in August, equivalent to around 9 million seats across both inbound and outbound flights.

The figure represents a 4.4% increase compared with July, adding approximately 190,000 international seats month on month and reinforcing Dubai’s position as the world’s leading international aviation hub.

Summer Travel Drives Capacity Growth

The increase reflects airlines ramping up operations during one of the busiest travel periods of the year, with demand remaining strong across leisure, business, and transit routes.

Dubai’s extensive global connectivity, supported by major carriers including Emirates and flydubai, continues to make the airport one of the most important transit gateways linking Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas.

Global Rankings

Dubai International comfortably retained the top position ahead of several major global airports.

According to OAG’s August rankings:

  • Dubai International Airport: 4.54 million international seats
  • London Heathrow: 4.26 million
  • Seoul Incheon: 3.95 million
  • Amsterdam Schiphol: 3.85 million
  • Istanbul Airport: 3.80 million

The rankings are based on scheduled one-way international airline seats.

Record Passenger Numbers

Dubai International’s latest ranking follows another record-breaking year for passenger traffic.

Earlier this year, Airports Council International (ACI) confirmed that Dubai retained its title as the world’s busiest airport for international passengers for the 12th consecutive year.

The airport handled a record 95.2 million passengers in 2025, a 3.1% increase over the previous year and the highest annual traffic in its history.

Momentum has continued into 2026, with Dubai International welcoming 18.6 million passengers during the first quarter, reflecting sustained demand for international travel and the airport’s growing role in global aviation.

A Key Global Aviation Hub

Dubai International remains one of the world’s most strategically connected airports, serving hundreds of destinations across six continents.

Its continued growth highlights the UAE’s position as a major global aviation and tourism hub, supported by expanding airline networks, world-class infrastructure, and rising international travel demand.
