The humanitarian mission has delivered continuous relief to people in Gaza, reflecting the UAE’s long-term commitment to crisis response.

Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates has marked 1,000 consecutive days of Operation Gallant Knight 3, a large-scale humanitarian mission supporting civilians in the Gaza Strip through emergency relief, healthcare, food assistance, and long-term recovery programmes.

Launched on 5 November 2023 under the directives of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the initiative has become one of the country’s largest sustained humanitarian operations, reflecting its long-standing commitment to supporting communities affected by conflict and humanitarian crises.

More Than $3.89 Billion in Humanitarian Assistance

Since its launch, Operation Gallant Knight 3 has delivered humanitarian assistance worth more than US$3.89 billion, including over 126,000 tonnes of food, medical supplies, and emergency relief materials.

Aid has reached Gaza through an extensive logistics network comprising more than 770 humanitarian flights, 25 ships, and over 13,000 trucks, enabling continued assistance despite complex operational and humanitarian challenges.

The operation has focused on providing immediate relief while maintaining a steady flow of essential supplies to affected communities.

Healthcare at the Centre of the Mission

Medical support has remained one of the operation’s core priorities.

The UAE has provided healthcare services through its field hospital in Gaza, affiliated medical centres, and the UAE Floating Hospital based in Al Arish, Egypt.

Together, these facilities have treated more than 230,000 patients, performing surgeries, delivering specialist medical care, rehabilitation services, and expanding healthcare capacity through the establishment and operation of additional treatment centres.

The healthcare programme has aimed to address both emergency medical needs and longer-term treatment requirements for injured civilians.

Reaching Areas Cut Off by Conflict

To reach communities inaccessible by road, the UAE continued its “Birds of Goodness” humanitarian airdrop initiative.

Through 81 airdrop missions, the operation has delivered more than 4,000 tonnes of humanitarian supplies to areas where conventional aid delivery has been difficult due to ongoing conflict and logistical constraints.

The initiative has provided food, medical supplies, and other essential relief items to some of Gaza’s most vulnerable communities.

Supporting Recovery Beyond Emergency Relief

Alongside emergency assistance, Operation Gallant Knight 3 has expanded into recovery and development initiatives designed to improve living conditions for displaced and affected families.

These efforts include operating automated bakeries to strengthen food security, establishing desalination plants and water distribution networks to improve access to safe drinking water, and supporting healthcare and education services.

One of the programme’s flagship rehabilitation projects is the “Step of Hope” initiative, which provides prosthetic limbs and rehabilitation services for amputees, helping patients regain mobility and improve their quality of life.

Long-Term Humanitarian Commitment

The completion of 1,000 consecutive days of Operation Gallant Knight 3 highlights the UAE’s long-term humanitarian approach, combining emergency response with healthcare, infrastructure support, and rehabilitation programmes.

According to the UAE, the initiative reflects its continued commitment to humanitarian values, international solidarity, and supporting the well-being and dignity of civilians affected by crisis.
