The Indian expat plans to invest part of his $1 million prize in UAE property.
For thousands of Dubai Duty Free participants, the Millennium Millionaire draw represents a dream that often takes years of patience, persistence, and hope.
For Dubai-based Indian expatriate Gaurav Madaan, that dream has finally become reality.
After more than five years of regularly participating in the popular promotion, the 42-year-old compliance officer has won $1 million in the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire Series 545 draw, joining an exclusive list of winners whose lives changed with a single ticket.
The latest draw, held at Concourse C of Dubai International Airport, once again highlighted why the Millennium Millionaire promotion remains one of the most recognized prize draws in the region.
A Five-Year Journey Ends With a Million-Dollar Win
Gaurav Madaan purchased the winning ticket online on May 20, holding ticket number 2916 in Millennium Millionaire Series 545.
Originally from Sonipat in India, Madaan has been living and working in Dubai since 2023 as a compliance officer for a French company. A father of one, he described the win as the fulfillment of a long-held dream.
After learning about his victory, his reaction was simple and heartfelt.
“Thank you, Dubai Duty Free. You have fulfilled my dream.”
For Madaan, the prize is not only a financial windfall but also an opportunity to invest in his future in the UAE.
He revealed that a portion of the winnings will be used to invest in property in Dubai, reflecting continued confidence in the emirate’s real estate market.
Indian Nationals Continue to Dominate the Winners List
Madaan’s win adds another chapter to the long-standing relationship between Indian expatriates and the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire promotion.
Since the launch of the draw in 1999, Indian nationals have consistently been among the most active participants and successful winners.
With Madaan’s victory, Indian nationals have now claimed 277 million-dollar prizes through the promotion.
The strong participation reflects the significant Indian community in the UAE and the popularity of Dubai Duty Free’s prize draws among travelers and residents alike.
Over the years, countless Indian expatriates have seen their lives transformed through the programme, making it one of the most successful and enduring promotional initiatives in the region.
Luxury Vehicles Also Awarded in Latest Draw
The excitement did not end with the Millennium Millionaire announcement.
The same event also featured the latest Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise draw, where several luxury vehicles were awarded to winners from different nationalities.
Among the most notable winners was Emirati national Sharif Abdulla Alulama, who won a Mercedes-Benz GLS 580 4M.
The 60-year-old Dubai resident, who participated through the Dubai Duty Free and American Express co-branded promotion, expressed gratitude for both organizations and highlighted his nearly two decades of association with AMEX.
His victory demonstrated how long-term participation can sometimes be rewarded in unexpected ways.
Luck Strikes Twice for Dubai-Based Indian Winner
One of the most remarkable stories from the draw came from Kapil Bhatia, another Dubai-based Indian expatriate.
Bhatia won a Land Rover Defender 110 V8 Ultimate Edition, marking his second Dubai Duty Free vehicle victory in just over a year.
He had previously won a Range Rover Sport in April 2024.
The winning ticket carried special significance because the number was created using a combination of his wife’s and son’s birthdays.
Working as a category manager for a retail hypermarket chain, Bhatia said his first win convinced him that anyone could be fortunate enough to succeed.
His experience serves as a reminder that persistence and participation continue to attract hopeful entrants to the programme year after year.
Another Repeat Winner Emerges
The draw also produced a second repeat winner.
British national David Duppa-Miller secured an Aprilia RSV4 1100 motorcycle, adding another vehicle to his list of Dubai Duty Free successes.
Earlier in 2026, he had already won a BMW F 900 GS motorcycle through a previous Finest Surprise draw.
While unavailable for comment immediately after the announcement, his victory further reinforced the unpredictable nature of the promotion.
Why Dubai Duty Free’s Draws Remain Popular
For more than two decades, the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire and Finest Surprise promotions have attracted participants from around the world.
The combination of life-changing cash prizes and luxury vehicles has helped establish the programme as one of the most recognized promotional campaigns in global travel retail.
Beyond the prizes themselves, the draws have become part of the broader Dubai success story, reflecting the city’s reputation for opportunity, ambition, and aspiration.
Every winner brings a unique story. Some participate for months. Others for years. Many never expect to hear their names announced. Yet every draw creates new stories of persistence, optimism, and unexpected success.
A Dream Realized
For Gaurav Madaan, the journey was neither instant nor easy.
It took more than five years of participation before his winning moment arrived.
But that patience ultimately delivered a million-dollar reward. His story serves as a reminder that sometimes persistence pays off in extraordinary ways.
And for the thousands of hopeful participants who continue purchasing tickets every month, it offers something equally valuable. The belief that the next winner could be them.
