Dozens rescued as authorities warn of further weather instability.

At least three people have died after severe flooding struck parts of Oman following heavy rainfall, with authorities confirming that the victims were caught in fast-moving waters in Wadi Al Maawil, located in South Al Batinah Governorate.

The incident occurred when multiple vehicles were swept away by sudden flood surges, highlighting the dangers of crossing wadis during unstable weather conditions.

Emergency Teams Rescue Dozens

Rescue operations were launched across several regions as floodwaters disrupted transport routes and stranded motorists.

Oman’s Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority confirmed that more than 40 people were safely rescued from affected areas, with emergency teams deployed to handle rising water levels in valleys and low-lying zones.

Efforts focused on evacuating individuals trapped in vehicles and assisting residents impacted by rapidly changing conditions.

Transport Disruptions Across Key Regions

Heavy runoff led to road closures and mobility disruptions, particularly across Muscat and the Al Batinah coastal belt.

Flooded routes and blocked access points complicated movement, as authorities worked to manage the situation and restore normalcy where possible.

Authorities Issue Safety Warnings

Officials have urged the public to avoid crossing flooded wadis and to follow safety instructions strictly.

Flash floods in Oman can develop quickly, especially during intense rainfall, making even shallow water crossings potentially life-threatening.

Weather Conditions Expected to Persist

According to Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority, the country remains under unstable atmospheric conditions.

Forecasts indicate continued thunderstorms, strong winds, and the possibility of hail across multiple regions, including Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah, Muscat, and parts of Al Sharqiyah.

Authorities remain on alert as the weather system continues to pose risks in the coming days.
