Sweihan recorded the country’s highest temperature on Saturday, while rain is expected in parts of the UAE from Sunday through Wednesday.
Abu Dhabi: The UAE recorded temperatures above 50°C on Saturday, with Sweihan in Al Ain reaching 50.2°C at 2:30 pm, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
The extreme heat is expected to give way to more unsettled weather, with rain forecast in parts of the country from Sunday through Wednesday.
Rain Expected Across Parts of the UAE
On Sunday, skies are expected to be partly cloudy and may become cloudy at times over northern and eastern areas, with a chance of light rain.
Humidity will increase overnight and into Monday morning in some western coastal areas, bringing the possibility of mist. Winds will generally be light to moderate, reaching speeds of up to 30km/h.
On Monday, eastern areas could see convective clouds develop during the afternoon, potentially bringing rainfall. Winds may strengthen to 40km/h at times and could raise dust.
Rain and Stronger Winds on Tuesday and Wednesday
The chance of rain will extend to eastern and southern parts of the UAE on Tuesday as convective clouds develop during the afternoon.
Humidity is again expected to increase overnight, with fog or mist possible over some inland areas. Winds could reach 40km/h and may stir up dust.
Similar conditions are forecast for Wednesday, with convective clouds potentially bringing rain to eastern and southern areas during the afternoon.
The possibility of fog and mist will continue overnight into Thursday morning.
A Sharp Change in Weather
The Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea are expected to remain generally slight during the period, although conditions in the Oman Sea could become slight to moderate later in the forecast.
The weather outlook marks a notable shift for the UAE. Temperatures climbed to 50.2°C on Saturday, while parts of the country could experience four consecutive days of rain chances from Sunday to Wednesday.
The combination of high humidity, stronger winds, dust and convective rain will make weather conditions variable across different parts of the country over the coming days.
