Devotees have been asked to use eco-friendly idols, avoid public processions and loud music, and immerse idols only at home. Non-compliance may lead to legal action.
Ganesha Chaturthi 2026 celebrations in Dubai will follow strict safety and environmental guidelines, with the Hindu Temple Dubai warning devotees that violations could lead to legal action.
The Hindu Temple Dubai has issued a set of guidelines for devotees preparing to celebrate Ganesha Chaturthi 2026, asking them to use eco-friendly idols, avoid public processions and loud music, and complete idol immersion at home.
The temple has also urged residents to follow all applicable UAE regulations and remain considerate of neighbours and surrounding communities.
The rules come as Hindu communities across the UAE prepare for the festival, which brings families and devotees together for prayers and celebrations.
Hindu Temples Prepare for Ganesha Chaturthi
Hindu Temple Dubai and the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi will hold special prayer sessions for Ganesha Chaturthi.
The celebrations will provide members of the UAE’s large Indian expatriate community, as well as Hindu communities from neighbouring countries such as Nepal and Sri Lanka, an opportunity to observe the festival.
However, Hindu Temple Dubai has asked devotees to keep celebrations within the applicable environmental, safety and community guidelines.
Eco-Friendly Ganesha Idols Required
The temple has asked devotees to use only eco-friendly Ganesha idols during the celebrations.
The guideline links religious observance with environmental responsibility and aims to ensure that celebrations do not create avoidable environmental concerns.
The temple has also asked devotees to take all necessary safety and security measures during pooja and other celebrations.
Devotees Asked to Respect Neighbours
The guidelines place particular emphasis on consideration for surrounding communities.
The temple has urged devotees to remain mindful of their neighbours and ensure that celebrations do not cause inconvenience or disturbance.
That includes keeping noise levels under control and avoiding activities that could disrupt residential areas.
No Public Processions or Loud Music
Hindu Temple Dubai has specifically asked devotees to avoid processions outside their homes or on public streets.
The temple has also requested that residents avoid using drums, loudspeakers, and musical instruments when these could disturb people living nearby.
The restrictions aim to keep private celebrations from creating noise or disruption in residential communities.
Ganesha Idol Immersion Must Take Place at Home
The temple has also issued clear instructions on idol immersion.
After completing the pooja, devotees have been asked to immerse the Ganesha idol at home only.
The temple said devotees can respectfully use the immersion water to water plants.
It has also specifically instructed residents not to immerse Ganesha idols in public places, ponds, backwaters, beaches or the sea.
The rule is intended to prevent public water bodies and coastal areas from becoming sites for idol immersion.
Temple Warns of Legal Action
Hindu Temple Dubai has asked devotees to follow its guidelines as well as all applicable UAE regulations.
The temple warned that failure to comply could have legal consequences.
“Non-compliance may result in appropriate legal action against individuals or groups, as applicable,” the temple said.
The message places responsibility on devotees to ensure that religious celebrations remain safe, environmentally responsible and compliant with local rules.
UAE Devotees Asked to Celebrate Responsibly
For Hindu families in Dubai observing Ganesha Chaturthi 2026, the guidelines set clear boundaries around how celebrations should take place.
Eco-friendly idols, home immersion, no public processions, and controlled noise form the core of the temple’s instructions.
The broader message is equally clear. Devotion can remain at the heart of the festival while celebrations respect the environment, neighbours and UAE regulations.
