A Delhi court granted conditional bail to CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke after he signed a peace bond in connection with the Tiranga rally case.

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder and convener Abhijeet Dipke was granted conditional bail by a Delhi court on Saturday after signing a peace bond in connection with the party’s proposed ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ rally at Central Park in Connaught Place.

According to Delhi Police, the Special Executive Magistrate’s court granted Dipke bail after he signed the bond.

CJP’s head of legal affairs, Ratna Singh, confirmed his release in a post on X, writing, “Abhijeet Dipke released.”

Earlier on Saturday, Singh had raised concerns about delays in the court proceedings.

“The hearing was supposed to happen at 12 p.m. It’s 3:38 p.m., and there’s no sign of it. If this isn’t deliberate, then what is?” she wrote, calling for the release of Dipke, Saurav Das, Ashutosh Ranka and other detainees.

CJP Leaders Detained Ahead of Rally

Police detained Dipke on Friday while he was on his way to join the proposed rally in Connaught Place. Authorities subsequently arrested him.

CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka also signed similar bonds after police detained them ahead of the protest.

All India Students’ Association (AISA) president Neha Bora was also detained near Mandi House as police tightened security across central Delhi. She was briefly released following her detention.

Police Cite Lack of Permission for Rally

CJP had planned a ‘Tiranga Assembly’ at Central Park in Connaught Place at 5 pm on Friday. However, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) did not grant permission for the event.

Before the proposed rally, Delhi Police served Dipke with two notices. The notices stated that Connaught Place was not a designated protest site and that the NDMC had not approved the proposed Tiranga Yatra.

According to officials, New Delhi district authorities issued one notice under the Delhi Police Act, directing individuals not to visit Central Park while prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) were in force.

South West Delhi authorities issued a second notice to Dipke. It reminded him that he, along with CJP co-conveners Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das, had previously been bound down following their preventive detention at the airport and subsequent appearance before a court.

The legal undertaking required them to refrain from causing public disturbances for one year.

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke reacts as he leaves after the Special Executive Magistrate ordered him released in New Delhi on October 17, 2026, a day after police detained him amid ongoing protests demanding removal of India’s Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged voter roll irregularities linked to the “special intensive revision” (SIR)
