Sayyed Shahul Hameed Maliga Thangal, a long-time UAE resident and community volunteer, has passed away after a battle with cancer. He was 53.

Thangal died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mangaluru, according to family members. He is survived by his wife and three children.

From Kerala Roots to Dubai Community Work

A native of Kumbla in Kerala, Thangal moved to the UAE in 1996. He initially lived in Abu Dhabi before settling in Dubai.

After working in the private sector for several years, he established his own document clearing business, building it steadily over time.

Deep Involvement in Community Organizations

Thangal played an active role in several community groups, including Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre and Malabar Kala Samskarika Vedhi. He was also closely associated with Satisfied Souls, a volunteer group known for social initiatives.

His work extended beyond formal roles. He was widely recognized for his consistent, quiet support for individuals in need.

Remembered for Quiet Generosity

Friends and colleagues described Thangal as a person who helped others without seeking recognition.

Close associates recalled his daily involvement in community activities and his readiness to assist anyone who approached him. His contribution, they said, went far beyond business or titles.

Ramadan Volunteer and Public Service

Thangal regularly participated in charitable initiatives, including distributing iftar meals during Ramadan in collaboration with Dubai Police and local volunteer groups.

His health had limited his participation in recent months, leading him to return to India for treatment.

Community Tributes Across the UAE

Organizations, including the Dubai KMCC Kasaragod District Committee, issued condolences, describing him as a selfless community figure whose impact was felt across both the UAE and India.

Leaders highlighted his long-standing involvement in community service and his ability to connect with people across different backgrounds.

Final Rites and Memorial

Thangal’s funeral was held in Kerala, while a memorial prayer is scheduled at Al Ghurair Mosque in Dubai.

His passing marks the loss of a figure whose contribution was defined not by visibility but by consistent presence and service within the community.
