Abu Dhabi: PureHealth has signed a 25-year master lease agreement with Yellow Door Energy to supply clean electricity across its hospitals and clinics in the UAE.
Executives from PureHealth, SEHA, and Yellow Door Energy attended the signing ceremony at PureHealth’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi. With the agreement in place, both companies will move forward with installing on-site solar power plants across multiple healthcare facilities.
Solar to Power Healthcare Operations
Under the agreement, the solar plants will generate approximately 23.5 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually. That output translates into a reduction of around 7,200 metric tons of carbon emissions each year.
By shifting part of its energy demand to solar, PureHealth will reduce reliance on fossil fuels while maintaining operational continuity across critical healthcare services.
Officials confirmed that the initiative supports the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 Strategy and aligns with PureHealth’s internal target to achieve net zero emissions by 2040.
Long-Term Infrastructure Strategy
Leya Al Damani, Chief Sustainability Officer at PureHealth, stated that the partnership strengthens the group’s infrastructure while lowering its environmental footprint.
She emphasized that integrating clean power enhances operational efficiency and ensures uninterrupted patient care. She also noted that the project forms part of a broader facilities and operations strategy focused on long-term resilience.
Meanwhile, Jeremy Crane, Group CEO of Yellow Door Energy, highlighted the importance of a stable energy supply for healthcare facilities. He stated that the company’s experience in multi-site solar deployments positions it to deliver reliable systems tailored to hospital environments.
No Upfront Capital, Predictable Costs
Yellow Door Energy will finance, design, build, operate, and maintain the solar systems under the lease model. This structure allows PureHealth to adopt renewable energy without making upfront capital investments.
At the same time, the agreement improves long-term cost predictability and supports structured asset planning across the healthcare network.
Healthcare’s Shift Toward Clean Energy
Hospitals operate around the clock and consume significant amounts of electricity. As a result, energy efficiency and renewable adoption increasingly form part of healthcare sustainability strategies.
Through this 25-year agreement, PureHealth integrates clean energy directly into core operations rather than treating sustainability as a parallel initiative.
The partnership reflects a broader shift across the UAE’s healthcare sector, where institutions combine environmental responsibility with infrastructure modernization to support national climate goals while maintaining high standards of care.
