The award recognises Sharjah Police’s efforts to raise public awareness, encourage safer practices and improve community safety.
Sharjah Police has received the Outstanding Communication Impact on Quality of Life Award for its Sharjah Security programme, which uses digital media to promote public safety, encourage preventive behaviour, and strengthen community awareness.
The recognition came at the 13th Sharjah Government Communication Award ceremony, held on Monday and organised by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau.
His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, presented the award to the Sharjah Police General Command. The ceremony brought together sheikhs, ministers, senior government officials, heads of government departments, and representatives of participating organisations.
Lieutenant General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, attended the event alongside members of the team responsible for the programme.
Sharjah Security Uses Digital Media to Promote Public Safety
The award recognises Sharjah Police’s efforts to update its security communication operations and use digital platforms to reach a wider audience.
Broadcast through the force’s social media channels, Sharjah Security offers the public a look at police operations and field activities while addressing issues relevant to everyday community life.
The programme aims to do more than inform residents about police work. It also shares practical safety messages, encourages responsible behaviour, and promotes cooperation between the police and the public.
These efforts support Sharjah Police’s wider objectives of strengthening public security and improving quality of life, in line with the priorities of the UAE and Sharjah governments.
Police Say Security Communication Must Go Beyond Reporting Incidents
Colonel Abdul Rahman Khater, Deputy Director of the Security Media Department at Sharjah Police, said the award reflected the force’s commitment to making security communication an important part of its institutional strategy.
He explained that security media should not be limited to reporting incidents or publicising police achievements. It also has a role in shaping public awareness, encouraging preventive action, and building a shared sense of responsibility for community safety.
Khater said the objective was to help create a society that is more aware, responsible, and secure.
He added that the recognition also reinforced the importance of producing media content that addresses public concerns and communicates practical information people can use in their daily lives.
Sharjah Police Plans to Expand Its Digital Communication Efforts
Sharjah Police intends to continue developing its media content and making greater use of advanced technologies to reach audiences more effectively.
Khater said the force would work to improve the quality and impact of its communication, while ensuring that security messages contribute to wider national priorities.
The Sharjah Security programme reflects a broader role for police communication. By combining information about field operations with public awareness messages, the initiative seeks to strengthen trust between residents and law enforcement while encouraging safer practices across the community.
