The achievement highlights the hospital’s growing role in advancing medical training and education across the UAE.

Dubai: American Hospital Dubai has received institutional accreditation from the National Institute for Health Specialties (NIHS), marking a significant milestone in its efforts to strengthen postgraduate medical education and healthcare workforce development in the UAE.

The accreditation recognizes that the hospital meets NIHS standards for postgraduate medical education, reinforcing its role as an academic healthcare institution alongside its clinical services.

The accreditation certificate was presented by Dr. Mohammed Al Houqani, Secretary General of NIHS, who said the recognition reflects the hospital’s commitment to developing healthcare professionals and advancing medical education in the country.

He noted that academic hospitals play a vital role in improving healthcare by integrating clinical care, education, research, and continuous quality improvement. He also welcomed the growing contribution of private hospitals to the development of the UAE’s healthcare workforce. NIHS serves as the national body responsible for regulating postgraduate medical training and professional development across the country.

Strengthening Medical Education

Announced on July 6, 2026, the accreditation further strengthens American Hospital Dubai’s position as a leading institution for medical education in the UAE.

The hospital established the American Hospital Academic Institute (AHAI) in 2022 to provide structured clinical education and professional training for medical students and healthcare professionals. Through the institute, students gain hands-on experience in advanced clinical procedures and modern treatment techniques while working alongside experienced physicians.

The initiative supports the hospital’s broader goal of raising healthcare standards in the UAE and the wider region by preparing future generations of medical professionals.

Focus on Advanced Clinical Training

American Hospital Dubai has also expanded its educational programs through its Robotic Surgery Training Institute, developed in collaboration with Robotics Surgical Systems (RSS) and UK-based CMR Surgical.

The training center focuses on enhancing robotic-assisted surgical skills and providing surgeons with practical experience using advanced surgical technologies, supporting the growing adoption of minimally invasive procedures.

The hospital said the NIHS accreditation reflects the collective efforts of its leadership, faculty members, and the American Hospital Academic Institute team to combine high-quality medical education with excellence in patient care.

Commitment to Future Healthcare Leaders

Roudaina Haddad, Group Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Group CEO of American Hospital Dubai, described the accreditation as an important milestone for the hospital and its educational mission.

“We are proud to mark another milestone in our medical education leadership in the UAE and the region. To be awarded institutional accreditation by the UAE’s National Institute for Health Specialties is a testament to our commitment to nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals,” she said.

She added that the hospital remains committed to promoting medical education as an integral part of delivering high-quality healthcare while continuing to invest in innovation, continuous improvement, and advanced clinical training.

With the new accreditation, American Hospital Dubai aims to strengthen further its role in preparing future physicians and healthcare professionals while contributing to the long-term development of the UAE’s healthcare sector.
