After stepping away from films, actress Rimi Sen explains why Dubai’s structured property market offered the right next chapter.

Dubai: Former Bollywood actress Rimi Sen, best known for hits like Hungama, Dhoom, and Phir Hera Pheri, has taken a clear turn away from cinema. She is now working as a real estate agent in Dubai, marking a fresh professional phase far removed from the film industry.

In a recent interview with Buildcaps Real Estate LLC, Sen spoke openly about her decision and what drew her to the UAE’s fast-moving property sector.

Why Dubai felt like the right move

For Sen, Dubai’s social and professional environment made the transition easier.

She pointed out that the city’s large expatriate population creates a strong sense of inclusion. “Dubai is very welcoming. Around 95 per cent of the population comes from outside, yet people feel settled here,” she said.

As a result, adapting to a new industry did not feel intimidating. Instead, the city’s systems and lifestyle helped her focus on learning and rebuilding her career.

A real estate market built on structure

Beyond lifestyle, Sen said Dubai’s real estate sector stood out for its organisation.“Here, everyone has a defined role. Developers, agencies and agents all work within a proper system,” she explained.

In contrast, she noted that real estate professionals in Dubai enjoy higher credibility. Agents are treated more like consultants, which, for her, brought confidence and clarity to the role.

Handling public attention off-screen

Sen also addressed online conversations about her appearance, which resurfaced after she shared recent photos.

She clarified that she has not opted for surgery. Instead, she uses non-invasive treatments and maintains a disciplined routine. “Anyone can look better with the right care and consistency,” she said.

At the same time, she added that public scrutiny is something she has learned to accept with perspective.

From films to a new professional identity

Sen last appeared on screen in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Shagird in 2011. Since then, she has stayed away from acting.

Now, her move into Dubai’s property market reflects a broader shift. Rather than returning to films, she is building a new identity grounded in business, structure, and long-term growth.

For Sen, the transition reflects what Dubai represents for many professionals: a city where reinvention feels possible, and careers can start again on clear terms.
