Cristiano Ronaldo still tops the Saudi Pro League scoring chart. However, his grip on the Golden Boot is starting to loosen as Ivan Toney hits peak form.
The Al Nassr captain has scored 16 league goals this season, keeping him narrowly ahead. Yet the gap is shrinking fast. Al Ahli striker Ivan Toney has already struck 14 league goals and 22 across all competitions, emerging as Ronaldo’s closest challenger.
Over the weekend, Toney added another goal in Al Ahli’s 3-0 away win over Neom. That strike followed a hat-trick earlier in the week and extended his hot streak to 11 goals in his last nine matches. His scoring run has pushed Al Ahli up to second place with 40 points, increasing the pressure at the top of the table.
Meanwhile, the Golden Boot race remains tightly packed. Julián Quiñones sits just behind Ronaldo with 15 goals, while Roger Martínez has matched Toney’s league tally of 14, despite playing for a mid-table side. Ronaldo’s teammate João Félix has chipped in with 13 goals, and Joshua King and Mateo Retegui remain firmly in contention.
Even at 40 years old, Ronaldo continues to score with remarkable consistency. He has claimed the Golden Boot in each of the last two seasons. Still, with Toney and several others surging at the right moment, defending that title will demand another strong finish.
Ronaldo will get his next chance to widen the gap when Al Nassr faces Al Taawoun on Sunday, a match that could prove decisive in the race for the league’s top scorer.
Toney netted again in Al Ahli’s 3-0 away win against Neom on Saturday.
