India lifted a record sixth ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup title with a dominant 100-run victory over England in the final at Harare, defending a towering total of 411 with composure and authority.

The match turned into a showcase of fearless batting, led by teen prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi, whose explosive 175 off just 80 balls set the tone for India’s triumph and left England chasing shadows from the outset.

Suryavanshi’s 175 Rewrites the Final

After choosing to bat, India posted 411 for 9 in 50 overs, one of the highest totals ever recorded in an Under-19 World Cup final.

Suryavanshi unleashed a relentless assault on the English attack, striking 15 fours and 15 sixes in a knock that combined timing, range, and calculated aggression. He attacked from the first over, refusing to let the bowlers settle, and dictated the tempo of the game throughout his stay at the crease.

His innings not only shifted momentum decisively but also placed England under sustained scoreboard pressure in a high-stakes final.

England Fight Back but Fall Short

England’s reply showed flashes of resistance, highlighted by a courageous century from Caleb Falconer. However, the target proved too steep.

Despite periodic partnerships and moments of acceleration, England could not keep pace with the required rate. Regular breakthroughs from India’s bowlers stalled any serious recovery attempt, and the chase gradually unraveled.

England were eventually bowled out 100 runs short, extending their wait for a second Under-19 world title since 1998.

India’s Sixth U-19 Crown

With this victory, India cemented their dominance in youth cricket, clinching a record sixth Under-19 World Cup trophy. The win showcased the team’s batting depth and composure under pressure—hallmarks of India’s junior cricket system.

Suryavanshi’s 175 now stands as one of the defining innings in Under-19 World Cup history. His match-winning knock not only sealed the title but also signalled the arrival of a formidable new talent on the global stage.
