After what she describes as the most difficult year of her life, Rawan Bin Hussain is approaching Ramadan with a markedly different perspective.
The Kuwait-born influencer, entrepreneur, singer, and actor, who has built a following of more than seven million on Instagram and over 700,000 subscribers on YouTube, shared a candid reflection on social media, describing the past year as a personal reckoning.
ICU Admission and Emotional Collapse
In a recent post, the 29-year-old revealed that in November 2024 she was admitted to intensive care following an attempted suicide.
“When the whole world thought I had everything, deep down I was miserable,” she wrote.
She attributed her emotional spiral to a series of deeply personal losses. Her divorce, she said, had an impact. The death of her mother, however, left her shattered. Instead of confronting grief, she turned to substance abuse and excessive training as coping mechanisms, exercising for extended hours until injury.
She also acknowledged falling into damaging relationships and social circles that, in her words, dimmed her sense of self.
Custody and Turning Point
Earlier this month, Bin Hussain shared footage marking her release after serving six months in custody related to a legal case in the UAE. According to Kuwaiti media reports last year, she was sentenced to six months in jail and fined Dh20,000 in connection with charges related to public misconduct.
In her recent posts, she did not revisit the legal specifics. Instead, she framed the period as transformative.
“Prison saved my life because I knew my ending would have been tragic,” she wrote. “I had to lose everything to realize how blessed I am.”
The experience, she said, forced accountability and prompted a spiritual reset.
A Different Ramadan
Bin Hussain signaled that this Ramadan will not resemble previous years, when she frequently shared styled looks, iftar gatherings, and curated content.
“This Ramadan, you won’t see me dressing up. I won’t share my looks or my iftars and suhoors the way I used to every year. This year, I want to dedicate Ramadan to Allah, our Creator.”
The statement marks a shift from outward presentation toward inward focus.
Beyond the Persona
Known for beauty, fashion, and lifestyle content, Bin Hussain has long positioned herself as a voice of confidence and ambition across the Gulf region. Based between Kuwait and the UAE, she expanded her brand into entrepreneurship, music, and acting while openly documenting motherhood and personal growth.
The past year, by her own account, dismantled that public image. The current chapter emphasizes rebuilding rather than branding.
