Emirates is asking passengers to use early check-in services during the busy summer travel period.

Emirates Urges Passengers to Arrive Early During Peak Summer Travel

Emirates has issued a summer travel advisory for passengers flying from Dubai, urging travelers to arrive at the airport well ahead of departure times as the emirate enters one of its busiest travel periods of the year. The airline expects higher passenger volumes during the school holiday season, when thousands of residents travel overseas for vacations, family visits, and seasonal breaks.

According to the advisory, passengers should arrive at Dubai International Airport (DXB) at least three hours before their scheduled departure. Emirates also reminded travelers to reach their boarding gates at least 60 minutes before departure, as security checks, immigration procedures, and airport traffic are expected to take longer than usual during peak periods.

Dubai Airport Continues to Handle Record Passenger Volumes

The advisory comes as Dubai International Airport continues to experience strong passenger growth. Between July and September 2025, DXB welcomed 24.2 million passengers, making it the busiest quarter in the airport’s 65-year history.

As one of the world’s busiest international airports, Dubai International serves as the primary hub for Emirates and connects travelers to more than 140 destinations worldwide. The airport’s continued growth reflects Dubai’s position as a leading global aviation and tourism hub.

With another busy summer season underway, both the airport and the airline are taking measures to reduce congestion and improve the travel experience for passengers.

Emirates Encourages Travelers to Use Digital Check-In Services

To minimize waiting times at the airport, Emirates is encouraging passengers to complete check-in procedures before arriving at the terminal. Travelers can use the airline’s website or mobile application to check in online, select seats, and manage travel requirements in advance.

The airline has also expanded its self-service options, including self-check-in kiosks, automated bag-drop facilities, and Emirates Check-in Ports located throughout the airport.

For frequent travelers and Emirates Skywards members, biometric services are available through the Emirates app, allowing passengers to move through several airport touchpoints more efficiently.

These digital solutions form part of Emirates’ broader strategy to streamline passenger processing and reduce congestion during periods of high demand.

Alternative Check-In Options Available Across Dubai

In addition to airport-based services, Emirates offers several off-site check-in options designed to provide greater convenience for travelers.

Passengers can check in and drop off luggage up to 24 hours before departure, while travelers heading to the United States can complete check-in procedures up to 12 hours before their flight.

The airline’s Home Check-in service allows travelers to complete the process from their residence or hotel, with agents collecting luggage and issuing boarding passes before passengers leave for the airport.

Emirates also operates city check-in facilities, including the Emirates City Check-in Centre in Ajman, which operates 24 hours a day, and the Emirates City Check-in and Travel Store at ICD Brookfield Place in Dubai. From July 1, the Brookfield Place facility will extend operating hours from 8 a.m. until midnight to accommodate growing demand.

Dubai Metro Offers an Alternative to Road Traffic

Emirates has also advised passengers to account for possible road congestion when planning their airport journey. During peak travel periods, traffic around Dubai International Airport can become significantly heavier, particularly during morning and evening rush hours.

To avoid delays, travelers may choose to use the Dubai Metro, which provides direct access to Emirates Terminal 3. The metro remains one of the most efficient transportation options for reaching the airport during busy travel periods.

The service operates from 5 a.m. to midnight from Monday to Thursday and Saturday, from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Fridays, and from 8 a.m. to midnight on Sundays.

Why the Summer Travel Advisory Matters

As passenger traffic continues to rise, airlines and airports are increasingly focusing on operational efficiency and customer convenience. Emirates’ latest advisory highlights the importance of planning, particularly during periods when travel demand is at its highest.

By encouraging travelers to use digital services, off-site check-in options, and alternative transportation methods, the airline aims to reduce airport congestion while improving the overall passenger experience.

Passengers are also advised to keep their contact details updated through the “Manage Your Booking” section on the Emirates website to receive important travel notifications and operational updates.

Conclusion

Emirates’ summer travel advisory reflects the growing demand for air travel through Dubai and the importance of preparation during peak holiday seasons. With Dubai International Airport handling record passenger volumes and summer travel expected to remain strong, travelers who take advantage of early check-in services and arrive at the airport ahead of time are likely to enjoy a smoother and more efficient journey.

As Dubai continues strengthening its position as one of the world’s leading aviation hubs, initiatives such as digital check-in services, biometric technology, and expanded passenger facilities are playing an increasingly important role in supporting the airport’s continued growth.
