Dubai: Luxury watchmaker Jacob & Co. has unveiled the Ambani Vantara watch, a bespoke $1.5 million timepiece created in tribute to Anant Ambani and his work in wildlife conservation.
The watch was revealed on January 21, 2026, and quickly drew attention across luxury and collector circles. This time, however, the focus extends beyond craftsmanship to the story behind the design.
A timepiece shaped by conservation
At the centre of the Ambani Vantara watch sits a hand-painted miniature portrait of Anant Ambani. The artwork reflects his direct involvement with the Vantara Global Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Centre in Gujarat.
Alongside the portrait, the dial features a lion and a Bengal tiger. Both animals represent species protected at the Vantara sanctuary. Together, the imagery turns the dial into a narrative rather than a traditional time display.
Design rooted in nature
The watch uses a deep green, camouflage-inspired background to reinforce its wildlife theme. The colour choice echoes forests and natural habitats.
At the same time, Jacob & Co. elevated the design through exceptional detailing. The dial holds 397 hand-set gemstones, weighing nearly 22 carats. These include demantoid garnets, tsavorites, green sapphires, and white diamonds, each placed to add texture and visual depth.
Art takes priority over function
Some social media users joked that the dial favours art over legibility. Still, collectors see this as intentional.
Rather than prioritising utility, the Ambani Vantara watch positions itself as wearable art. It reflects a broader shift in high-end watchmaking, where ultra-luxury pieces serve as expressions of identity, values, and purpose.

The release adds another rare piece to Anant Ambani’s watch collection. More importantly, it highlights how luxury brands are changing their approach.
