Former Air India Express CEO to guide long-term plans post leadership change.
India’s largest airline, IndiGo, has appointed Aloke Singh as Chief Strategy Officer, strengthening its leadership bench during a period of transition.
The move follows the exit of former CEO Pieter Elbers, who stepped down earlier this month, prompting interim oversight by Managing Director Rahul Bhatia.
Singh will lead long-term strategic planning and enterprise-wide transformation initiatives, with a focus on growth, efficiency, and competitive positioning in an increasingly complex aviation environment.
Focus on Transformation and Growth
The airline said Singh’s role will extend beyond planning into execution, working across teams to improve agility, enhance customer experience, and deliver sustainable value.
His appointment signals a shift toward structured transformation as IndiGo scales operations while navigating regulatory scrutiny and operational pressures.
Experienced Aviation Leadership
Singh brings more than three decades of experience across aviation strategy and operations.
He previously served as CEO of Air India Express, where he led operational improvements and expansion initiatives, and has held leadership roles at Air India and Oman Air.
His background in managing complex airline transformations positions him to guide IndiGo through its next phase of growth.
IndiGo’s Scale and Ongoing Transition
IndiGo operates a fleet of more than 400 aircraft and runs over 2,200 daily flights across more than 135 destinations. The airline carried 124 million passengers in 2025 and crossed $10 billion in revenue under its previous leadership.
The leadership reshuffle comes after operational disruptions in late 2025 drew regulatory attention, adding urgency to strengthening internal systems and long-term planning.
What Comes Next
The airline continues to operate under interim leadership while searching for a new chief executive.
Singh’s appointment provides continuity at the strategic level, ensuring that long-term planning and transformation efforts remain on track during the transition.
